Sad Saturday; Mad Monday

At 9pm on Friday night the NRL finals series promised so much. This morning, the Vodafone Warriors' 2010 season is over.

As soon as the Warriors lost to the Gold Coast Titans on Friday night, their fate was in other teams' hands. When the Roosters came back from the dead to beat the Tigers in golden point extra time last night, the nightmare began. And in the first hour of today, their fate was sealed; the Canberra Raiders sneaked home 24-22 over the Penrith Panthers. The Warriors have been eliminated from the play-offs and one of the two lowest-ranked losers of the weekend.

It's a sad end to the season, but not at all unexpected. The Warriors were their own worst enemy this season, and lost too many matches which should have been won. Given the fact that they were written off prior to the season, we'd say that there were more positives than negatives, but their inconsistency was their undoing.

Let's hope for better things from the 2011 Vodafone Warriors.
