Phil and Winston

We laid down a challenge to Phil Goff yesterday to categorically rule out doing a deal with Winston Peters should NZ First do a Lazarus act in two weeks' time.

Now Newstalk ZB has said that there will be no cup of tea; check this out:

Phil Goff has ruled out having a cup of tea with New Zealand First leader Winston Peters.

The Labour leader is out pressing the flesh at Auckland's Otara Markets.

He's calling the meeting between the Prime Minister and John Banks, at which John Key endorsed the ACT candidate for Epsom, a complete rort of the system.

He says there's no way he'll be doing anything similar with Winston Peters, who's gaining traction in the polls.

Mr Goff says he'll see where the votes lie after the election, and any meetings will take place then.

Of course there'll ne bo cup of tea; after all, Winston's favourite line, apart from "No", has always been "Wake up and smell the coffee sunshine"!

And in any event, those of us who can remember the merry dance that Winston Peters led Jim Bolger and Helen Clark (before hooking up with the former and jilting the latter) will remember the beverage of choice; any meeting that Phil Goff has with the NZ First leader will be of the Whisky with Winston variety!

Amusing Mr Goff (whom we know is a hay seed), thinks it is a rort of the system. Is his party not in favour of MMP?

Is what occurred not MMP in motion?

An aside, I followed a car home from work last night for part of the journey in which the number plate was - MMPSUX......... I laughed my weary tired butt off

The original poster has a cynical bent that tries to suggest that Winston Peters would actually join in the shenanigans of Act and the Nats with Epsom and do the same or similar with Mr Goff. I read the 2011 NZ First Election manifesto last night - If the Party can get the contents of this in front of the electorate Key and the others will be concerned as it is the first time I have seen a party put in place a plan of action with clear direction. All should read and make their own minds. It covers areas that have needed to be discussed for decades.
