Quote of the Day

This one comes from 3News' Director Mark Jennings in the wake of last night's Leaders' Debate, and allegations of stacking of the "undecided" panel:

Shortly after David Farrar released his blog Director of 3 News Mark Jennings said the infiltration did not reflect well on the Labour Party.

“It appears a few Labour Party activists may have snuck through our screening system,” he said.

“The group of uncommitted voters was selected by an expert but if people are determined to lie and cheat their way onto the panel then it is hard to stop. I don’t think it reflects well on the Party and I am sure Phil Goff will be disappointed as he talked a lot about fairness during the debate.

We're sure that Phil Goff will be disappointed that people are talking about this today as well. Goff performed well in last night's debate, especially in the early stages.

But we learned one thing last night; worms find Winston Peters toxic, even if the Labour Party does not!

The worm distraction is a negative for Goff's good performance in the debate - and it also overshadows key's lethargy.

It did highlight the critical points - Goff can't form a government without Peters
- Peters says at the moment he won't go into government with Labour
- Goff has to rely on Peters going against his word (again) and going into coalition with Labour
