Happy St Paddy's Day!

It's March 17th, and that means it's the day when those of us with a celtic heritage honour St Patrick. It's also a day when large quantities of green beer are drunk in scant disregard for the next day's state of health, where Irish bands will play at non-Irish pubs, and where the breweries will try to cash in.

And here's a musical celebration; the Pogues, recorded live at the Town and Country Club in London on St Paddy's Day 1988. Shane McGowan had clearly had a convivial day, so fortunately this video includes the lyrics to Turkish Song of the Damned in the comments below the video itself:

So to our Irish friends, or those who are Irish for one day each year, top o' the mornin' to yee, and may you have a happy St Patrick's Day.
