Where are the moderators?

Having twice been banned from The Standard for what we regarded as pretty innocuous statements, we have pretty strong thoughts on the standards applied by that particular blog's moderators.'

But we find it pretty telling that the comment below has made it through, given that it was posted almost six hours ago as we type this:

And to think that the good folk who comment at The Standard refer Kiwiblog as "the sewer"; Felix's comment sets a new low Standard. Pete George is dead right in condemning it; it's just a pity that none of The Standard's moderators did likewise.

I was disappointed that you felt the need to republish the comments on your blog, KS, do they really deserve so much attention, even to support a point? There are too many sad people out there who feel the need to share their bigotry and intolerance with others.

And that wasn't the end of it, I was subjected to a number of abusive attacks after speaking up against that.

And they claim to be the flagship blog of the left.

That is because the standard mods agree. They hate Key.

It;s the 'new english' taught by the leftie mind f*****s in our schools. Goes with the new maths.

the word censor is spelt m.o.d.e.r.a.t.o.r.

Of course, there are no capital letters in either.

I recommend you avoid reading The Standard. It's a very depressing and negative experience and won't advance your life's journey in any way.

I'm disappointed to have disappointed you bsprout.

However in the same way as I am accountable for both the content and comments on this blog (both of which I am always trying to improve), other blogs need to take accountability for comments that are left on them. The Standard is very quick to censor dissent; far slower however to moderate offensive and abusive stuff such as this, simply because it suits.

But KS, yours is a blog like Fox news. Hypocrisy disguised as righteous indignation, with a false moral high-ground that somehow allows it to call others out for the comments of commenters, while here theyre're supposedly left to reflect more on those that make the comments, just like other blogs do! And you care what commenters elsewhere blurt out? That's why you comment so often at the dirtiest toilet of all.. where your mate Cam Slater craps eh?

The blogosphere is a sewer. Politics is a sewer. Bloggers and commenters are sewer rats. We all know that.

Oh, and BS about 'simply because it suits' You are a very poor example of Pot/Kettle etc...

What Matty M said.

The tut tutting like a school hall monitor form you and Peter Dunhill's pet is a tad lame.

Keeping Stock said...

So you are quite comfortable with the description of John Key then Edward, and you add your own ad-hom to boot.

Your comment reveals far more about you than it does about me.

Edward the Confessor said...

Dunno about that, but this post when set alongside your fawning all over Slater reveals your double standards certainly. Key putting a holiday to the US ahead of honouring the sacrifice of New Zealand troops is equally revealing.

Keeping Stock said...

Ah; of course. The Cameron Slater Defence; silly of me not to have expected it!

And as far as Key goes; he has met with the families of the dead soldiers privately. Having just lost their sons, and in all likelihood having regrets about not having spent more time with there own sons now that they have died, I suspect that they would give the PM their blessing to spend time with his own son.

Are you a father Edward?

Edward the Confessor said...

Well, how do you explain your fawning admiration of Slater given his behaviour alongside your swift and uncompromising condemnation of anyone who dares question the PM's judgement?

I'm not the Prime Minister and I didn't send anyone into a war zone, so I don't have to wear the consequences of that decision. Neither does he apparently. He's off on holiday (again).

Keeping Stock said...

Actually Edward, it was Helen Clark's government which deployed the Provincial Reconstruction Squad to Bamyan province.

But I reiterate my previous point; the families of the deceased soldiers probably far preferred Key's personal visit than a scrum at the funerals, where the media will fall over one another trying to get the most unflattering photo of the PM.

And are you a parent Edward?

Edward the Confessor said...

"it was Helen Clark's government which deployed the Provincial Reconstruction Squad to Bamyan province."

You're going to be blaming the previous administration for things that are now the responsibility of the current one for how much longer do you think?

The question is whether it's beyond the pale to raise the PM's non attendance at a funeral for soldiers who were killed while overseas at his behest. When his excuse is he's going on holiday, the answer is yes.

Keeping Stock said...

Edward; again I ask; are you a parent?

Edward the Confessor said...

Yep, and I would really like to spend time with my kids instead of doing my job, but I can't.
